Classification of pine wilt disease at different infection stages by diagnostic hyperspectral bands

چکیده
Pine wilt disease (PWD) is a very destructive forest that causes the mortality of pine. The infected trees usually die within three months, and spreads fast with long-horned beetle as medium if are not removed from in time. Therefore, detecting at different infection stage, especially early infection, crucial for preventing PWD spread. This study aims to exhibit spectral differences pine needles between healthy pines stages reveal diagnostic bands classifying stage trees. We collected needle samples healthy, early-, middle-, late-stage Japanese (Pinus densiflora) Korean koraiensis) northern China explore biochemical properties these four classes, selected sensitive combining competitive adaptive reweighted sampling (CARS) successive projections algorithm (SPA). were used classification by linear discriminant analysis (LDA) algorithm. results show Chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, carotenoids, moisture content decreases aggravation infection. green (510–530 nm), red-edge (680–760 short-wave infrared (1400–1420 nm 1925–1965 nm) bands, overall accuracy 77 % 78 respectively when using demonstrate physiological parameters including can be PWD, feasible stress symptoms

Regeneration of Different Plant Functional Types in a Masson Pine Forest Following Pine Wilt Disease
Pine wilt disease is a severe threat to the native pine forests in East Asia. Understanding the natural regeneration of the forests disturbed by pine wilt disease is thus critical for the conservation of biodiversity in this realm. We studied the dynamics of composition and structure within different plant functional types (PFTs) in Masson pine forests affected by pine wilt disease (PWD). Based...
متن کاملHyperspectral Analysis of Pine Wilt Disease to Determine an Optimal Detection Index
Bursaphelenchus xylophilus, the pine wood nematode (PWN) which causes pine wilt disease, is currently a serious problem in East Asia, including in Japan, Korea, and China. This paper investigates the hyperspectral analysis of pine wilt disease to determine the optimal detection indices for measuring changes in the spectral reflectance characteristics and leaf reflectance in the Pinus thunbergii...
متن کاملHistory of pine wilt disease in Japan.
Pine wilt disease induced by the pinewood nematode, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus, is a great threat to pine forests in Japan. The first occurrence of the disease was reported in Nagasaki, Kyushu. During the 1930s the disease occurrence was extended in 12 prefectures, and in the 1940s the disease was found in 34 prefectures. The annual loss of pine trees increased from 30,000 m(3) to 1.2 million m...
متن کاملRole of Phytotoxins in Pine Wilt Disease
Characteristic rapid death of pines after infection by Bursaphelenchus xylophilus suggests the involvement of phytotoxins in the pine wilt disease syndrome. Crude extract from diseased pine is toxic to pine seedlings, whereas an extract from healthy pine is not. The response of seedlings to the crude toxin is more prominent in susceptible pine species than in resistant ones. Benzoic acid, catec...
متن کاملPine wilt disease – a threat to pine forest in Europe
Pine wilt disease caused by pine wood nematodes is endemic to North America. Pine wood nematodes have already spread to East Asia, including China, Taiwan and Korea in addition to Japan. The pine wood nematode, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus, was discovered in Portuguese pine forests in 1999. If it were to become established in the pine forests in Europe, it could become one of the most serious thr...
